Brittney Powell, Sioux City, showed the grand champion steer that first competed in the division two medium weight class. A heifer shown by Mitchell Hoefling, Merrill, was named overall reserve champion in the market beef competition.
Hoefling's 1,280-pound heifer first won top honors in the market heifer division. Mitchell Udell, Sioux City, showed the reserve champion market heifer.
Ryan Schroeder, Le Mars, captured the performance beef grand champion trophy. His steer weighed 1,310 pounds and had a 3.54 average daily gain. Adam Kroksh, Akron, had the reserve champion performance beef.
A steer exhibited by Nicole Bottjen, Kingsley, won the division one market steer competition. Ross McNaughton, Kingsley, had the reserve champion division one market steer.
Powell's steer was the division two winner. Allison Junck, Hinton, captured the division two steer reserve champion honors.
The breeding heifer show preceded the market beef competition. A registered Low Maine breeding heifer, shown by Mitchell Udell, Sioux City, was named the grand champion breeding heifer. Tera Lehner, Le Mars, won the reserve champion breeding heifer trophy with her registered Chiania heifer.
The day concluded with showmanship competition. Exhibitors in both the breeding heifer and market beef shows were eligible to compete for junior and senior beef showmanship honors.

The top two beef junior showmen were Ian Kessenich, Kingsley; and Mitchell Hoefling, Merrill. Rounding out the top five beef junior showmen were: Jessica Webster, Akron; Mick Sitzmann, Le Mars; and Madison Udell, Sioux City.
