Mediacom's cable TV systems to change hands in Le Mars, Orange City

Premier Communications announced Thursday that they have entered into an agreement to purchase the Mediacom Cable TV and Internet systems in Le Mars and Orange City.

Mediacom will continue to operate these services until the date of closing, which is expected to be some time this fall. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

Television services are currently provided by Premier Communications in 18 northwest Iowa communities including Sioux Center, Merrill, Hinton, Akron, Maurice, Rock Valley, Boyden and Hull.

The company also provides local and long distance telephone services in 13 of these communities, as well as high speed Internet services using cable modem, broadband wireless, or DSL technologies. they also partner in a 320 mile fiber optic network connecting its communities to points in Sioux City, Sioux Falls, and Spencer.

By adding the communities of Le Mars and Orange City to their system, Premier hopes to enhance the efficiencies of the network and to deliver the reliable services customers want.

Premier's CEO Doug Boone commented: "We are excited about adding Le Mars and Orange City to our Premier family and are impressed with the enthusiasm that exists in each community.
