Hugh "Barney" Swift, 82, of Akron, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Akron. Pastor Damon Green will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) with the family present after 5:30 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home -- Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
