David and Suzanne Steichen of Remsen announce the engagement of their son, Matthew Steichen, to Jennifer Schneider, daughter of Patrick and Charlotte Schneider of Bloomington, Minn.

The couple is planning an August wedding.

Matthew, a graduate of Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, is currently employed as sports editor of the Austin Daily Herald in Austin, Minn.

Jennifer graduated from the University of Minnesota and is working as a special education assistant for Eden Prairie Schools while pursuing her master of education degree.
