Mark Treinen, age 76, of Le Mars, died Monday April 16, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village of Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.

Mark Joseph Treinen was born March 5, 1931, at Le Mars, the son of Leonard J. and Sylvia T. (Kramer) Treinen. He grew up in the Le Mars area and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in 1949. Mark served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Air Force. After his service, he returned to Le Mars and began his employment with Iowa Public Service where he worked for 44 years before retirement.

Mark married Joyce Eberhard on August 24, 1955 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars and the American Legion, Wasmer Post #241.

Mark enjoyed fishing, golfing and an occasional run to the casino.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of Le Mars; two children: Theresa "Terri" Yahnke and her husband Shannon of Apple Valley, Minn., and James Mark Treinen of Perrysburg, Ohio; two grandsons, Keith and Adam Yahnke of Apple Valley, Minn.; a brother and his wife William and Jo Ellen Treinen of Sioux City; three sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Ray Langel of Le Mars, Marilyn and John Forman of Plattsmouth/Beaver Lake, Neb., and Charlotte and Terry Townsend of Newton; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, where there will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service all at the church. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to services on Thursday at the church.

The Feuerstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
