Harold D. Ruba was born May 4, 1923, at Remsen, the son of Nick & Kate (Loutsch) Ruba. Harold was raised and educated in the Remsen area. He was engaged in farming with his brother Roman in the Remsen and Marcus area until April of 1985 when they retired and moved into Remsen. He has been a resident of the Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Nov. 23, 2006.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include three brothers, Msgr. Nicholas J. Ruba, Melvin and his wife Agnes, Jim and his wife Dorothy, all of Remsen; one sister and her husband, Doris and Bob Seuntjens of Kingsley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Irvin and his wife Ethel, and Roman; and one sister, Rosemary and her husband Joe Roder.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with his brother, Msgr. Nichoals J. Ruba, his nephew, the Rev. Terry Roder, and the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen.
Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There was a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m.
Casketbearers were Marvin Roder, Rich, Mark and Steve Ruba, Bob Seuntjens Jr. and Bill Seuntjens. Knights of Columbus honorary bearers were Robert Jaminet, Paul Loutsch, Paul Pick, Orville Portz, Silverius Schroeder and Vernon Staab.
