Roman Daldrup, 77, of Akron, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Roman Rapheal Daldrup was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Sioux City, the son of Henry and Viola (McCoy) Daldrup. Roman attended various handicap specialty schools for his disabilities. From his early adulthood, he lived in homes in Marshalltown and Plymouth Life in Le Mars, where he was employed for a number of years with Plymouth County Life Skills Training Center in the laundry area. Most recently he was a resident at

the Akron Care Center.

Roman loved taking pictures and collecting paddle locks. He enjoyed shopping for trinkets. He was very talented when it came to building things from his trinkets. He enjoyed shopping for trinkets and ending the day with hot chocolate and a piece of pie. He also enjoyed playing his drums. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his stepsister, Rita Schlemmer of Rapid City, S.D.; a niece, Carol Jensen and her husband Curt of Rapid City, S.D., and their children, Erik Jensen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Kyle Jensen of Rapid City, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-brother-in-law, Robert Schlemmer; and a nephew, Geoffrey Schlemmer.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City, S.D. There will be no visitation.

The Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of arrangements.
