Mrs. Asmussen was born April 16, 1914, at Remsen, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Dose) Schorg. She lived in Remsen until she was married and then moved to Le Mars. She married William Asmussen in 1934 at Elk Point, S.D. She was a devoted housewife and mother and was a bookkeeper for the family business in Le Mars.
In 1952, the family moved to Los Angeles. She then worked with her sister, Maybelle, designing and fabricating cusom hats and handbags.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Earline) of Barrington, Ill., and Richard of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Linda (Fred) Radecki of Schaumburg, Ill., and Mark (Laura) Asmussen of Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Weldeon (Gloria) Schorg of Santa Ana, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Henry and Ann Schorg; three sisters, Valeska Crouse, Maleta Dueker, Maybelle Birch; and three brothers, Leonard Schorg, Arley Schorg and Emory Schorg.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Remsen City Cemetery with the Rev. Craig Miller of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, officiating. The service is open to all who may wish to attend.
The Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel of Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
