After a successful weekend on the road, the Le Mars Community bowling teams returned to the friendly confines of Sweet 16 Lanes Monday to score yet another set of victories.
Sioux Central was the opponent Monday and both the boys and girls teams were winners over the visitor.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Sioux Central 2464-1788, with Haley Hettwer rolling the meet's high game of 202. Hettwer also had a 195, ranking third behind teammate Rachel Swisher's 197. Swisher also had a 157, while Katelyn Woods added a 190 and Kelli Beeck a 160. Sioux Central's top game was a 150 by Molly Mills.
Le Mars' JV girls also competed and actually scored better than Sioux Central's varsity with a team 1945, topped by Nicole Seible's 165, Stephanie Gerrietts' 152 and games of 149 and 142 from Aimee Goddard.
The Bulldogs downed Sioux Central 2719-2222 behind Travis Hansen's meet-best games of 274 and 235. Gage Cosgrove also rolled a 203, Tyler Prouty a 191 and Corey Arens a 186 for the varsity in the win.
Kenny Frye led Sioux Central with games of 225 and 221.
Le Mars' JV boys finished just behind Sioux Central with a team 2163 - ahead of the Gehlen Catholic's varsity score of 1895 - with top games from Ethan Swanberg (199) and Nick Cronin (192).
On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs were at Ida Bowl to face Battle Creek-Ida Grove. Le Mars picked up another dual win here 2426-2014, led by Hettwer's meet-high game of 239. She also had a 163, while Kelsey Schilmoeller posted a 199, Woods a 193 and Swisher a 163.
The Bulldogs were in action Saturday as well, competing amongst a seven-team field at the Family Fun Center in Fort Dodge. Le Mars rolled a team 2990 to finish tops among the Varsity A schools and third overall, behind Varsity AA winner Fort Dodge (3141) and Varsity AA runner-up Newton (3014). Hansen led all bowlers with the meet's high game of 256 and Prouty was second with a 238. Hansen also made the top 10 with a 226, with Sam Swanberg adding a 226 for fifth and Brandon Coover a 202 for ninth.
The boys and girls teams wrapped up their weekend sets by competing at Lewis Bowl North in Sioux City on Sunday.
The boys rolled a team 2734 to finish second in a five-team field behind meet winner Sergeant Bluff-Luton's 2804. Sioux City West (2712), Sioux City East (2690) and Sioux City North (2672) rounded out the field.
Hansen fired the Bulldogs' top two games with a 245 and a 222, good enough for third and fifth among all bowlers. Sergeant Bluff's Mike Lenz had the meet's top game with a 264 and his 232 was fourth, while West's Chris Harbeck was second with a 258.
The Lady Bulldogs bested a five-team field, winning the Varsity A meet over Sergeant Bluff 2290-1912 and the overall meet over West (1968). West was first in the Varsity AA competition, followed by North (1792) and East (1663).
West's Lisa Logstan rolled the meet's high game with a 188, with Lady Bulldogs occupying spots 2-6. Woods was second with a 181, Beeck third with a 169, Hettwer fourth and fifth with identical 168s and Swisher fifth with a 167.
