Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Relay for Life of Plymouth County will hosted a chili feed and dodgeball tournament this Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Le Mars Community High School Carey Gymnasium.

The event, open to the public, is a team kick-off event for the 2007 Relay for Life of Plymouth County which will be held June 1 and 2 in Le Mars.

The chili feed will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a freewill donation.

The Dodgeball Tournament gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in Carey Gym, with a maximum of 16 teams. Registration is on a first come basis, with a $20 entry fee per team (t-shirts will be included).

Team members must be 6th grade and older, anyone under the age of 18 must have a permission slip signed by their parent/guardian.

Prizes will be given to the first, second and third place teams in the single elimination tournament.

"We're excited about the dodgeball tournament and about the 2007 Relay for Life," said Cathy DeBoer, who is co-chair for the Relay and is also serving as team recruitment chair.

"The chili feed and dodgeball tourney are a time to get together and have fun and also an opportunity to let people know what will be going on at the 2007 Relay for Life," DeBoer said. "We have some fun contests planned for June. We also plan to have a couple of young bands at the Relay, life music for the youth to enjoy."

To register a Relay for Life team or dodgeball team, contact Cathy DeBoer, team recruitment chair, at 712-546-4210.
