Sally Klauer, 91, of Akron, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Akron Care Center.
Sylvia Hazel Klauer was born on July 29, 1915 in Beresford, S.D., the daughter of John and Minnie W. (Jacobson) Erickson. She attended school in Beresford graduating from high school in 1933. Following her education Sally worked at various jobs in the Beresford area.
Sally and Edward Klauer were united in marriage at Luverne, Minn. The couple made their home in Akron where they owned and operated Klauer's Restaurant and Bar. Eddy died in 1960 and Sally sold the restaurant in 1961. Sally then worked for Zenith in Sioux City and Otis Radio in Hawarden. Her last occupation was with the American Legion in Akron as well as operating a boarding house for many years.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron and participated in the Ladies Aid Guild. She was also a 13-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her friend Teddy Earnest.
Survivors include her son Jerry Amundson and his wife, Colleen, grandsons Brad Amundson and his wife Jody, Craig Amundson, David Amundson and his wife Dawn, and several great-grandchildren, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister Frieda Ludwig of Alcester, S.D.; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends Teddy Earnest and Dorothy Olson both of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; two brothers Martin and Oscar Graverson; and a friend John Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
