Richard J. Schmidt, 86, of Remsen, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen after an extended illness.

Funral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery.

Friends may call any time after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There will be a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
