Wyman L. March, 80, of Kingsley, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Wyman was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Kingsley, the son of Roy and Lillie (Shearer) March. He grew up in the Kingsley area. After high school, Wyman played semi-pro baseball and traveled around the Midwest to various cities while playing baseball. After his career in baseball he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Melva Warnecke and to this union three children were born, Joe, Terry and Mary. He worked for Page Silo Company in Kingsley for many years building silos for farmers. After that he worked tending bar at Scootch's Tavern in Kingsley and also worked as a custodian for the Kingsley -- Pierson School.
He married Charlotte Faye Koch on Ju1y 18, 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Faye, of Le Mars,, two sons, Joe March and his wife, Karen of Kingsley, Terry March of Sioux City, Iowa, and one daughter, Mary March and her special friend, Melissa Drumm of Sioux City; two stepdaughters, Lynn Swansen and her husband, Robert, and Shelia Miller and her husband, Martin, all of Le Mars; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are two brothers, Vince March and his wife, Maxine of Kingsley and James March of Springfield, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rohde ~ Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until service time Friday at the Rohde ~ Earnest Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing.
