Wayne and Kathy Augustine of Remsen announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Kari, to Justin Frerichs. He is the son of Dave and Lynn Ruba of Remsen and Mark and Shari Frerichs of Le Mars.

The couple is planning an Oct. 14, 2006, wedding at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with a reception and dance following at the Avalon Ballroom in Remsen.

Kari is a 1998 gradute of Remsen St. Mary's High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa. She is employed at DRI Title and Escrow in Omaha, Neb.

Justin is a 1999 graduate of Remsen St. Mary's High School and a 2001 gradute of AIB College of Business. He is employed at Wells' Dairy, Inc., in Omaha.
