Gloria Potts, 90, of Remsen, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Gloria Potts was born Dec. 8, 1915, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Harm and Grace (Luitjen) Seggerman Sr.
Gloria was raised in the Remsen area and received her education in both the rural school system and Remsen Public School.
As a young woman she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked as a fashion model, as a secretary, and attended several schools and studied various religions and became a religious practitioner and spiritual counselor. On May 27, 1956 she married Charles Arthur Potts at Sioux City. They made their home in North Hollywood, Calif. In 1967 they moved to Bellingham, Wash., and in 1980 they moved to Scottsdale, Ariz.
Charles died Feb. 21, 1986. In June 2004 Gloria moved to Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Gloria enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Johnson of Archer; one brother, Bill Seggerman of Marshaltown; one sister-in-law, Betty Seggerman of Marcus; one brother-in-law, Dale Dorr of Marcus; many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, two sisters both in infancy and both named Marie, Anna Ott, Alma Scherner, Gertrude Wictor, Carolyn Rexroat, Dorothy Dorr; and four brothers, Herman, Harm Jr., Eilert "Sonny" and Bob Seggerman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen wth the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. today (Monday), at the Fisch Funeral Home where there will be a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casketbearers will be Mike Gleason, Dean Johnson, Neal Johnson, David Ott, Denny Rexroat and Philip Ritz.
