Mary Louise Rath, 94, of Le Mars, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Mary Louise Briley was born May 11, 1912, near Thurman, Iowa, the daughter of John and Edith (Mobley) Briley. Mary Louise was raised in the Methodist faith. She received her education at Whiting. She was united in marriage to Edgar Anderson. To this union a son, Edwin was born. She later married Leo Rath.
She lived and worked for Alber's Food Center in Hinton for 25 years. She later moved to Le Mars and lived at Regency Villa for many years. In July 2002, she became a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars. While living at Plymouth Manor, Mary Louise enjoyed the activities and visiting with staff members.
Mary Louise enjoyed sports; especially baseball and basketball. She also enjoyed playing solitaire. She loved to bake and share her baked goods with friends. She was a longtime member of the Eagle's Auxiliary in South Sioux City, Neb.
Survivors include a sister, Nellie May Fister of Onawa, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edwin; and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Jason Larson of Le Mars United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be 10 Thursday, Aug. 3, at Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday, until service time at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.
