Ashley Aileen Philips, 16, of Oldsmar, Fla., died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at St. Petersburg Bayfront Medical Center after being struck by a car while skateboarding.
Ashley Philips, a lifelong Florida resident, was born in Dunedin, Fla., and moved to Oldmsar. She was an honor student at Tarpon Springs High School veterinary program and a member of the track team. She was to go to Washington, D.C., in July to be a page for Cong. Mike Bilirakis.
She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Clearwater. She worked at Smart Start Day Care in Tampa/Oldsmar and volunteered in City Clerk Lisa Lene's office in Oldsmar.
Survivors include her mother, Hope A. Philips of Oldsmar, Fla.; her father and stepmother, Vance and Victoria Philips of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Austin Philips, of Oldsmar; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Wanda Philips of Akron; her maternal grandparents, Jerry and Wanda Beverland of Oldsmar; and her paternal great-grandmother, Irma Lenton of Randolph, Neb.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Heritage United Methodist church in Clearwater, with the Rev. David Landers, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Scott Welch of Fresh Start Church of Tampa. The Holloway Funeral Home of Oldsmar is in charge of arrangements.
