Geraldine M. "Jerry" Kass, 87, of Le Mars, died Thursday June 8, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center (Brentwood) in Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.
The former Geraldine M. Reynolds was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Le Mars, the daughter of Clevo and Hulda (Jaacks) Reynolds. She grew up in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. On June 6, 1936, Geraldine married Edward T. Kass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. The couple made their home in Hawarden for a few years and then moved back to Le Mars. Over the years, Jerry had been employed with JCPenneys and later with Le Mars Savings Bank.
Her husband Ed died April 7, 2003.
Mrs. Kass was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers' Society.
Survivors include six children, Thomas Kass and his wife Deanne, of Pocahontas, Barbara Lauters and her husband, Robert of Dodge City, Kan., Patricia Hall and her husband, Mike of Camarillo, Calif., Raymond Kass of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Steven Kass and Brian Kass and his wife Kim, all of Sarasota, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband ,Ed Kass; two sons, Jerry Kass in infancy, and Richard Kass; five sisters and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Kevin Richter presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation at the Feuerstein Funeral Home will be after 3 p.m. Monday, where there will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.
Six grandsons will be pallbearers: Jim Lauters, Mike Lauters, Jeff Lauters, Steve Lauters, Chad Hall, and Austin Miller.
