ean E. "Peggy" Thompson, 83, of Le Mars died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Good Samaritan Village (Brentwood) in Le Mars.

The former Jean E. Beck was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Pierson, the daughter of Bill and Blanche (Spencer) Beck. She grew up in Pierson where she attended elementary and high school.

Jean married Daniel C. Thompson of Cushing, on Dec. 29, 1941, at Dakota City, Neb. They spent most of their lives in the Hinton area until the late 1980s when they retired and moved to Le Mars. Her husband Daniel died in 1991.

Jean enjoyed her visits with friends at Sunrise Villa, her home since 1991; spending afternoons playing cards, working puzzles, and going to brunch on Sundays. She especially took pleasure in knowing her grandson Wesley was coming to spend the weekend and the special visits from her niece Karen Dempster.

Jean is survived by a son, Wade Thompson and his wife Betty of Le Mars; a son-in-law Dennis Dreckman of Le Mars; a sister Marge Ritchey of Moville; eight grandchildren: Mrs. Laurie (Rick) Schroeder of Hinton, Mrs. Lisa (Mark) Lanning of Sioux City, Mrs. Leslie (Brian) Ferguson of Akron, Mrs. Angie (Bill) Schilmoeller and Wesley Pottorff, both of Le Mars, Corey Dreckman and his wife Dana of Jacksonville, Fla., Kristina Thompson and special friend, Chuck of Sioux City, and Joshua Thompson of Le Mars; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Danny in 1991; her daughter, Diane Dreckman in 2005; a sister; and two brothers.

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. The Rev. Jason Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Rick Schroeder, Mark Lanning, Brian Ferguson, Wesley Pottorff, Bill Schilmoeller, Corey Dreckman, and Joshua Thompson.
