Rose Ann Majeres, 86, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
The former Rose Ann Plendl was born Oct. 24, 1919, at rural Le Mars, the daughter of George and Agnes (Connor) Plendl. Rose Ann was raised and educated in the Oyens area and graduated from Union High School in 1937. On April 21, 1941, she married Cyril Majeres at Oyens. They farmed south of Oyens for a couple of years then moved to north of Oyens to farm, retiring on the farm in 1982. Cyril died Jan. 2, 2000. She continued to live on the farm until early 2001 when she moved into Le Mars. On April 30, 2001, she moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars where she resided until Jan. 2, 2006, when she entered Plymouth Manor Care Center.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Le Mars, a 60-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America of Remsen, past member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, church Guild and Christian Mothers, all of Oyens.
Suvivors include two sisters, Helen Groetken and Dorothy Tentinger, both of Le Mars; three sisters-in-law, Ardith Plendl of Dows, Rita Ritz and Rosemarie Staab, both of Remsen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Vincent and Stephen Plendl and Leonard and his wife, Erma Plendl; two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Marvin Dunn, Colette and Leo Groetken; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Groetken and Wally Tentinger.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Oyens. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today (Thursday), at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Neil Groetken, Rick Groetken, John Hutchins, Philip Ritz, Carl Staab and James Tentinger.
