Kate Evans and Steven Sand of Le Mars announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

Parents of the couple are Curt and Su Evans of Joice and Leonard and Kathy Sand of Crete, Neb.

The couple will be married in a 2 p.m. ceremony July 1, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. The reception will follow at the Le Mars Convention Center at 5 p.m.

Kate earned a bachelor of arts degree from Buena Vista University and a master of arts degree from the University of Iowa. She is an area specialist with the USDA, Rural Development in Humboldt.

Steven earned a bachelor of arts degree from Buena Vista University. He is a social studies teacher at Gehlen Catholic Schools in Le Mars.
