Ann Collins and Jared Kooiker of La Mesa, Calif., announce their engagement and approaching marriage. They were engaged at sunset at the top of Point Loma Lighthouse, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Ann and Jared will be married Aug. 12, 2006, at First Lutheran Church, Cumberland, Wis.

Ann is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Collins of Turtle Lake, Wis. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School. She then received a bachelor degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, with a degree in accounting. Ann is currently accounting manager for Empire Electrical Supply, San Diego.

Jared is the son of Calvin and Dixie Kooiker of Le Mars. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School. His college career was at Oklahoma City University, graduating with a bachelor degree in biology. Jared is a horticulturist at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park, Escondido, Calif.
