Roger Lee Sieverding, age 73, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Putnum County Medical Center in Palatka, Fla.
Roger Lee Sieverding was born July 11, 1932, in Le Mars, the son of Wilbur and Mary Esther (Schnepf) Sieverding. Roger graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Le Mars. He was a five-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion.
Roger was co-owner of the Sieverding-Walsh Hardware Store in Le Mars and a past president of the Le Mars Jaycees.
He moved to International Falls, Minn., and was the owner/operator of Camp Idlewood on Rainy Lake for 29 years. The last seven years he had been cruising the rivers of the United States, the Great Lakes, Florida Keys, Chesapeake Bay and the Bahamas on a 40-foot power boat with his sister, DiAnn Stevens.
He is survived by sisters, Mary Rita Walsh and DiAnn Stevens, and brothers, Harold, Earl and Tom.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mary Esther Sieverding, and his brothers, Wilbur and Wayne (Bud), who died Oct. 25, 2005.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. The body was cremated and the remains will be brought to Le Mars for burial.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, those who wish may make a donation to their favorite charity in Roger's name.
