Patty Mae Rice, 79, of Matador, Texas, and a former Le Mars resident, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at her residence in Matador.
Patty was married to Raymond Rice on Oct. 21, 1949, in San Diego, Calif. She was a homemaker and made her home in numerous parts of the country married to a career military husband. Mr. and Mrs. Rice had lived in Le Mars, and Reno, Nev., before moving to Matador about two years ago.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband: Raymond Rice of Matador, Texas; one son, Neal Rice of Harris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Chuck Ream of Matador, Texas and Jill and Pat Schnepf of Ashland, Wis.;
one brother, Jim Papenhausen of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one sister, Betty Hansen of Sparks, Nev.; eight grandchildren: Jobey, Ellie, and Traci Schnepf, Callie and her husband, Scott Hodgson, Gabe Ohlson,
Charli and Mandi Ream, and Lisa Rice; and two great-grandchildren, Nolan Hodgson and Aryn Raylien Ohlson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Leonard, and Dick Papenhausen; and one grandchild, Rod Rice in 2004.
Memorial Services were held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Matador. Officiating was the Rev. Winfield Davenport of the First United Methodist Church. Cremation was under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home of Matador.
