Six teenagers from Le Mars and Remsen were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:18 a.m. Sunday morning south of Hinton.
Melinda R. Juhl, 17, Remsen, was driving a 1999 Mercury, south on Highway 75, north of 325th Street, when, according to the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office, she lost control of the vehicle at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle entered the median where it flipped and rolled, ejecting several of the occupants.
Injured in the accident were: Juhl, Tiffany Justus, 16, Remsen, Samantha Grause, 15, Le Mars, Jeffrey Britcher, 18, Le Mars, Samuel Iverson, 19, Le Mars, and Diego Garcia, 18, Le Mars.
The teens were transported to Mercy Medical Center by Hinton Ambulance, Merrill Ambulance, Mercy Air Care, and Siouxland Paramedics.
Juhl was driving a vehicle owned by Justus, the sheriff's office said, and speed and alcohol were both factors in the accident.
The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol and the Hinton Fire Department.
The investigation of this accident is continuing.
