William D. Butler

William D. Butler 69, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Bill was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Hornick, the son of John and Hazel Butler. He graduated from Hornick High School in 1954. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii until 1957.

On May 23, 1959, he married Diana Keairns. They spent most of their years in the Sioux City area.

He spent his career designing restaurants and selling restaurant equipment. His work can be seen coast to coast. He loved fishing, the Explorers, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years Diana of Sioux City; his five children and their spouses: Allen Butler and Mardi Hendricks, John and Kathy Butler of Sioux City, Liz and Randy Kurth of Le Mars, Connie and Bob Reynolds of Waterbury, Neb., Bill and Kristi Butler of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a sister, Beth Johnston and her husband, Roy of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Butler, four brothers; Clarence and Norris Nickolison, James Rodney Butler, and John Boyd, and a sister, Jesse Zellmer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Burial will be at Logan Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m.
