Marsha Kay Gernand, 57, of Le Mars, and a former resident of Hamburg, Sioux City, and Branson, Mo., died April 17, 2006, at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City.
Marsha was born July 20, 1948, in Hamburg, the daughter of Arnold James and Innis Marie (Brown) Gardner. She graduated from Hamburg High School with the class of 1966. She was united in marriage to Dwight A. Gernand on June 29, 1989, at First Baptist Church in Hamburg.
She was a secretary at Nelson Electric and a customer service representative at Motor Inn dealership in Le Mars. When the family lived in Branson, Mo., she worked as a human resource specialist at the Lawrence Welk Theatre. She loved making crafts and was a wonderful painter.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight, of Le Mars; a son, Jeremy James Howard and his wife, Lashawn of Le Mars; her parents, Arnold and Innis "Tiny" Gardner of Riverton; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Christian; two sisters, Christie Bassinger and her husband, Rex, of Nebraska City, Neb., and Addie Sears and husband, John of Mustang, Okla.; nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton, with the Rev. Frank Gillett officiating. Burial will be at the Riverton Cemetery. Open visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton.
