Melanie Anne Brau and Michael Patrick Murphy were united in marriage Oct. 1, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. The Rev. Larry Bums officiated the ceremony. Vocalist was Anita Coon, and organist was Karen Blass.

Parents of the couple are Curt Brau of Early, Mary Brau of Schaller and Patrick and Kathryn Murphy of Le Mars.

Maid of honor was Jennifer Brau of Cedar Falls, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Megan Dirksen of Le Mars, sister of the bridegroom; Mia Tardive of Omaha, Neb., sister of the bridegroom; Jamie Evans of Urbandale, cousin of the bride; Trish Radke of Grimes, cousin of the bride; Jackie Schubert of Apple Valley, Minn., and Cindy Olberding of Dubuque.

Best man was Todd Langel of West Des Moines. Groomsmen were Matthew Brau of Cedar Falls, brother of the bride; Brad Dirksen of Le Mars, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Gabe Tardive of Omaha, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Dane Merry of Omaha; Ryan Morgan of Pella, and Ryan Muldoon of Atlantic.

Flower girl was Brenna Dirksen of Le Mars, niece of the bridegroom. Ring bearer was Blake Dirksen of Le Mars, nephew of the bridegroom.

Personal attendants were Sara Mentzer of West Des Moines, and Jessica Mason of Denver, Colo..

Seating the wedding guests was Joe Goedken of Centerville.

A reception, dinner, and dance following the ceremony, was held at the Alta Community Center.

Melanie is a 1997 graduate of Schaller-Crestland High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. Melanie is employed with the Le Mars Community School District.

Michael is a 1998 graduate of Le Mars Community High School and a 2002 graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor of science in finance. He is a 2005 graduate of Drake Law School. Michael is employed with The Murphy, Collins and Bixenman Law Firm.

Following a wedding trip to Puerta Aventuras, Mexico, the couple is at home in Le Mars.
