Olga Johnson, 92, of Le Mars, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Village of Le Mars.
Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Ireton, the daughter of John and Margareta (Eilts) Peters. She was raised in the Le Mars area and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1933. Following her education, Olga worked at various places in the Le Mars area, with a number of those years at the Pantry Café.
On March 12, 1949, Olga and Alvin Johnson were united in marriage in Sioux City, where they made their home. Mr. Johnson died in 1960. Olga moved to Le Mars in 1961. Prior to moving to Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in 2000, Olga was a resident of the Floyd Valley Apartments for 11 years where she was active in Senior Citizens.
Olga was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and WELCA. She was also a member of Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Paul Coffin of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Peter and Katie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin; and eight brothers Oscar, Walt, Ed, Bob, Roland, Victor, Russell and John.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Greg Gabriel officiating. Burial will follow a time of lunch and fellowship at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
