INWOOD -- Omar Jensen, 81, of Inwood, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Omar was born Sept. 9, 1924, near Canton, S.D., the son of Ole and Elina (Sween) Jensen. He married Doris Mae Helder on May 28, 1950, at the Bethel United Methodist Church. They lived at Inwood until 1951 when they farmed north of Canton, S.D. They moved to a farm near Inwood in 1956 and moved to Inwood in 1974. They owned and operated the Inwood Café and Omar worked as a police officer and employee for Inwood. Omar later worked at the Canton-Inwood Hospital and at Lake Pajoha.
Omar and Doris loved to play cards and were members of Kum-two-Pinnacle Club for more than 40 years. They were members of the Canton Saddle Club, enjoyed fishing and bird watching; luetifisk and leftsa.
Doris died Dec. 8, 1993. Omar moved to the Fellowship Village in November 2003.
Omar is survived by three daughters: Kathy Jensen of Davenport, Vicki (Stan) Beach of Harrisburg, S.D., and Nancy (Ron) Mullally of Le Mars; seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Lyle) Jensen of Inwood, Lois (Orval) Larson of Harrisburg, S.D.; and a brother-in-law, Wesley Helder of Kokoma, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; brother, Erland, and an infant brother.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood. with the Rev. Ted Stowers officiating. Burial will be at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Visitation will be Friday with the family present 6 -- 8 pm at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood.
