Dorothy Harden, 81, of Aurelia, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Aurelia.
Dorothy Ann Lee was born Oct. 23, 1924, at Le Mars, the daughter of Orville and Bertha (Bartels) Lee. She graduated from Le Mars High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, for two years, and received her teaching certificate. Dorothy taught kindergarten at Lake View for two years.
On Sept. 26, 1947, she married Virgil E. (Pete) Harden in Le Mars. Dorothy was the Pitcher Township Clerk from 1969 to 1976.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in aurelia and Maple Valley Friendship Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, golf, and trips to Sloan.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue and her husband, Don Kramer of New Richmond, Wis.; one son, Charles and his wife, Marilyn Harden of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Allison and her husband, Andy Pattee of Montezuma, Brian Kramer and Wendy Harden, both of Minneapolis, Minn., Jen and her husband, Tony Medici of Des Moines, and Sara and her husband, Aaron Turner of Des Moines; two great-grandsons, Aiden and Brock Turner; and one sister, Jeanie Moss of Cleveland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil on Aug. 29, 2002; an infant daughter, Deborah Lynn; and two brothers-in-law, Alfred Felton and Bob Moss.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday) at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Pastor Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. Visitation was Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia, with the family present 2 to 5 p.m.
