Marie Rembe, 84, of Sioux City, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following an extended illness.
Marie Rembe was born July 13, 1921, in Le Mars, the daughter of Benjamin and Gesine (Eilks) Reelfs. Marie was a Sioux City resident for the majority of her adult life. She married Harold C. Rembe on Aug. 7, 1937, in Le Mars. Harold preceded her in death on July 20, 1998, in Sioux City.
Marie was a longtime member of Morningside Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters: Joan Lewis and her husband, Jerry of Sioux City, and Judith Barr and her husband, Thomas of Apple Valley, Minn.; one son, Jerry Lee Rembe and his wife, Susan of Burnsville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Lewis of Bullhead, Ariz., Jean Tronson and her husband, Steven of Goodyear, Ariz., James Lewis and his wife, Julie of Davenport, Ranie Marie Barr of Apple Valley, Minn., Jason Barr and his wife, Tammy of Lakeville, Minn., Benjamin Rembe of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mary Lu Rembe of Eden Prairie, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren: Mandy Juedes and her husband, Russell of Ashland, Neb., Jeremiah Tronson of Goodyear, Ariz., Melissa Lewis of Plattsmouth, Neb., Tiffany Tronson and her husband, Shane of Sioux City, Melanie Lewis of Omaha, Neb., Tanner Thompson Barr of Lakeville, Minn., Elizabeth Marie Barr of Lakeville, Minn., and Zoey Rembe of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (formerly Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel) in Sioux City with the Rev. Renee Spaulding of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Casket Bearers will be Jeffrey Lewis, James Lewis, Jason Barr, Benjamin Rembe, Steven Tronson and Jeremiah Tronson.
Memorials may be left in Marie's name to Morningside Lutheran Church, Sioux City.
