Carol M. Lang, 64, of Le Mars, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Carol M. Nilles was born Nov. 5, 1941, at Le Mars, the daughter of Theodore and Julia (Luken) Nilles of Remsen. Carol graduated from St. Mary's High School in Remsen in 1960. Following high school, she attended Stewart's School of Beauty in Sioux City, and graduated in 1961. She went to work as a beautician in Boulder, Colo.

Carol was united in marriage to Richard Lang on Feb. 24, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Following her marriage to Dick, she worked locally as a hairstylist for several years. In 1987, Carol went to work for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center as a secretary in the Quality Control Department until her retirement after 17 years in 2004.

Carol had a very special talent for decorating her home. She was blessed with a "green thumb" for caring plants and flowers in and around her home. She loved her grandchildren and following their sports and dance functions.

She was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill.

Carol is survived by her husband of 43 years, Richard Lang of Le Mars; four children and there families, Krista and Kyle Klein of Le Mars and their children Kristofer, Kenzi, Kelby, and Karson, Rick and Kay Lang of Sioux Falls, S.D., and their children Cedrick, Kaylor, and Derick, Russ Lang of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kerri and Troy Ludwigs and their children Ellie, Wylie, and Cambrie; four sisters, Bonnie and Harlan Borchers of Le Mars,, Jan and Elmer Klein of Remsen, Diana and Glenn Brown of Sioux Falls, S.D., Nancy and Charlie Brown of Cleghorn; three brothers, Jim and Jean Nilles of Granville, Dan and Sandra Nilles of Le Mars, and Gene and Myrna Nilles of Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law, Clara and Ron Hunter of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Julia (Lucken) Nilles; a brother, Thomas Nilles; a nephew, Tommy Nilles; two brothers-in-law, Dewayne Schulz and Doug Lang; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vivian and LeRoy Lang.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Nickolas Becker officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) with the family present after 5:30 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service, all at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Borchers, Chris Nilles, Troy Lang, Scott MaComb, Lonny Brown, and Pat Klein. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
