Virginia Lee Ohlson, 46, of Chicago Heights, Ill., and formerly of Cherokee, departed this world on Jan. 13, 2006, after a 14-month battle with cancer.

The former Virginia Tilton was born March 14, 1959, in Blue Island, Ill., the daughter of Charles W. and Charlotte F. (Stange) Tilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Mikey Johnson.

Survivors include two children, Leigh (Angie) Peterson and Katrina (Jonny) Johnson, all of Aurelia; three grandchildren, Tyler, Emma and Mazy; one sister, Rosemarie (Bob) Winters of Cave-in-Rock, Ill.; three brothers, Edward C. (Bonnie) Bednarczyk of Cherokee, Robert J. (Joanne) Bednarczyk of Posen, Ill., and Richard A. Bednarczyk of Posen, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 501 Locust St., in Aurelia.
