Marie F. Arndt Schneider, 97, of Hinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.
Marie was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Sloan, the daughter of Di "Bud" and Jessie (Pope) Thacker . She grew up in Leeds and graduated from Central High School. She moved to Hinton in 1927.
She married Henry Arndt in 1927 in Elk Point, S.D. He died March 6, 1962 in Hinton. She later married Clair Schneider in 1966 in Hinton. He died May 17, 1977, in Sioux City.
Marie was a member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and knitting.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Don and Ardie Arndt and Gordon and Doris Arndt, all of Hinton; one daughter, Shirley Miller of Hoopeston, Ill.; one stepson and his wife, Richard and Jan Schneider of Bloomington, Minn.; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Overman of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Janie Beaulieu, Rhonda Kovarna, Deb Lang, Mike Arndt, Lori McQuillen, Melodie Kibler, Donell Mayfield, Scott Miller; 23 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers and one sister.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hinton United Methodist Church in Hinton with the Rev. Jason Gutzmer officiating. Burial will be in Memorlal Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Arndt, Kenneth Beaulieu, Douglas Kovarna, Tim Lang, Bob McQuillen and Keith Kibler.
