Katy Sween and Matt Clay, both of Mankato, Minn., were united in marriage Aug. 13, 2005, at Linnaeus Arboretum in St. Peter, Minn. Judge Shirley Eken officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Norma Sween of Owatonna, Minn. The bridegroom is the son of Dusty and Carol Clay of Le Mars.

Grandparents of the bride are the late Lawrence and Irma Pearson of Janesville, Minn., and Malinda Sween of Grand Meadow, Minn., and the late Lloyd Sween.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are Harold and Lavonne Buss of Le Mars and the late Gail and Stella Clay of Broken Bow, Neb. Also, great-grandparents were the late Earnest and Lila Weber, longtime Le Mars residents.

Jessica Smith of Mankato, Minn., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Clay of Le Mars, sister of the bridegroom, Betsy Sween of Grand Rapids, Minn., sister-in-law of the bride, Jennifer Panko of Mankato, Minn., and Katherine Burnham of Owatonna, Minn.

Best man was Andrew Clay of Seney, brother of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Jeremy Weiler and Jason Kuiken, both of Le Mars, Preston Jewison of Mankato, Minn., and Andrew Tschida of Minneapolis, Minn.

Seating the wedding guests were Andrew Sween and Joel Sween, brothers of the bride.

The reception followed at the Kato Ballroom in Mankato.

Kathy is a 2000 graduate of Owatonna Senior High School and received her bachelor of arts and masters degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in English literature. She is a teaching assistant at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Matt is a 1996 graduate of Le Mars Community High School and is a multi-media classroom coordinator at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is also currently a senior at Minnesota State University, pursuing a degree in computer and information science.

The couple is at home in Mankato.
