GRANVILLE -- Ruth Ellen Kovie, 81, of rural Granville, formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Ruth Ellen Kovie was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Horace and Florence (Cosman) O'Rourke. She was raised and educated in Cleveland. On Feb. 12, 1949, Ruth and Francis Kovie were united in marriage in Cleveland. The couple made their home in Gary, Ind., where they started their family. They would later move to West Palm Beach, Fla.

Ruth was a homemaker and a caring, loving mother to ten children. She also operated an antique shop from her home. Francis died Jan. 29, 1979. Ruth stayed in West Palm Beach until moving to rural Granville three years ago to live with her daughter, Aspen.

Ruth loved to laugh and had a wonderful outlook on life. Even though she had a difficult life she never complained and was always thankful for the things she had. In her last two years she sought refuge in Christ and ended her days in His strong and loving arms.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, George of Daytona Beach, Fla., Margaret of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Judy Pelton and her husband, Richard of Palm Springs, Fla., Gail, Denise and Anita of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Aspen Allen and her husband, Bryan of rural Granville, Lisa, Larry and Tito of W. Palm Beach, Fla.,, Katia DeLuica of Arizona, Michael of Chicago, Ill., and Steve of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren Benjamin, Daniel, Rachael, Lydia, Isaac, Josiah, Faith, Samuel, Eirca, Niki, Leah, Michael, David, Kevin, Kyle, Shelby, Brandon, Justin, Tyler, Aaron, Trevor and Damon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Francis.

Memorial services will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the Mauer -- Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present beginning at 5 p.m. and a time of sharing at 6 p.m.
