Ron and Sue Theisen and the late Tim Smid of Remsen, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sadie Smid, of Des Moines, to Ryan David Trytten of San Diego, Calif. Ryan is the son of Dick and Dianne Trytten of Decorah.

Sadie graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School in 1997 and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls with a B.A. degree in graphic design. She is employed by Allegra Print & Imaging as a sales and marketing manager.

Ryan graduated from Decorah High School in 1997 and from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, earning an accounting and financing degree. Ryan is currently in his last year at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, San Diego, Calif.

The couple is planning a Jan. 6, 2006 wedding at 5 p.m. in San Diego, aboard the Horn Blower Pacific Boat. A reception for the couple will be held in Remsen at the Avalon Ballroom on March 4, 2006.
