Amy Leigh Rust and Scott Matthew Ferguson of Oakland, Calif., were united in marriage on Aug. 18, 2005, at Lake Merritt in Oakland, Calif. Romesh Fernando of Los Angeles, friend of the bride and bridegroom, officiated at the sunset ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Robert and Jeanne Rust of Le Mars and Frank and Lisa Ferguson of Northridge, Calif.

Receptions honoring the couple were held Aug. 20 at Kensington Park in Kensington, Calif., and Aug. 27 at the home of the bride's parents in Le Mars.

Amy, a graduate of Gehlen Catholic High School, earned a B.A. in English/communications from DePaul University in Chicago in 1997 and an M.A. in humanities from the University of Chicago in 2001. Scott earned a B.A. in Film Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2001.

Amy and Scott are Ph.D. candidates in the Department of Rhetoric and Film Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where they are also currently employed as undergraduate instructors. Upon completion of their doctorates, the couple plans to pursue employment as academic professors.

Following their wedding trip to Puerto Morelos, Mexico, the couple is at home in Oakland.
