Anita L. Gruhn, 33, Remsen, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
The former Anita Schorg was born Aug. 23, 1972, at Le Mars, the daughter of Dennis and Janice (Cook) Schorg.
She was raised in Remsen and received her primary education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen and her secondary education at Remsen-Union High School from which she graduated in 1991. She then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College at Sioux City for surgical technician. She was employed at various jobs in the Remsen area including Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen and was a teacher's assistant at St. Mary's Catholic Grade School.
On Nov. 23, 2002 she married Craig Gruhn at Remsen where they made their home. She was currently a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its choir, THEE Choir, Eucharistic Minister, wrote mass petitions and was a member of St. Mary's Guild.
Survivors include her husband, Craig of Remsen; two daughters, Abby and Jordyn, both at home; her parents, Dennis and Janice Schorg of Remsen; four brothers, Rick and his wife, Mary Beth Schorg of Lawton, Mike Schorg of Remsen, Phillip Schorg and his special friend, Windell Austin, Dan and his wife Susan, Schorg all of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Suzanne Schorg of Remsen; one sister-in-law, Kelli Schorg of Remsen; maternal grandmother, Mary M. Cook of Le Mars; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delton and Janet Gruhn of Manning; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Dwight and Jeannie Gruhn, Todd and Shelly Gruhn, all of Manning, Dale and Leeann Gruhn of Guthrie Center; maternal grandmother-in-law, Evaline Schultz of Battle Creek; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Pat Schorg; maternal grandfather, Glen Cook; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Ida Schorg; and two uncles, Jim Cook and Cleo Laughton.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, with a rosary at 3 p.m. by St. Mary's Guild and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casketbearers were Rick Schorg, Mike Schorg, Dan Schorg, Dwight Gruhn, Todd Gruhn and Dale Gruhn.
