The engagement and approaching marriage of Julia Nelson and Joe Pick is announced by their parents, Sylvia Nelson of Newell and Arlie and Deb Pick of Remsen. Julia is also the daughter of the late John Nelson.

The wedding will take place Oct. 8, 2005, in Newell at the Nain Lutheran Church.

Julia is a 2000 graduate of Newell-Fonda High School and a 2004 graduate from Buena Vista University with a major in biology. She is currently working at Storm Lake High School as a principal's secretary. Joe is a 1999 graduate of Remsen-Union High School and a 2003 graduate from Buena Vista University with a major in graphic design and communications. He is employed at Buena Vista University as an admissions counselor.

The couple currently resides in Storm Lake with their daughter, Johnna.
