Dale Johnson, 75, of Kingsley, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Dale was born Sept. 10, 1930, in rural Kingsley, the son of Arthur H. and Lillian (Hamil) Johnson. He was the second of four children. He attended country school until beginning high school in Kingsley, graduating in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army following high school, serving in El Paso, Texas and Germany. When he returned to Kingsley, he farmed the same farm that his father had been born and raised on.
He married Sally Van Buskirk on June 6, 1953 in the Kingsley Methodist Church.
Dale was a member of the Kingsley Methodist Church, and a founding member of the Rocking K Saddle Club. He and Sally enjoyed square dancing. In recent years, Dale has enjoyed antiquing with old toys a special interest.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; two daughters, Kerri Dale Bainbridge of Waterloo, and her son, Derrick Henry, and Kyla Lee Blili and her husband, Rached of Cedar Falls, and their four children, Michael, Tori, Amina and Melek; one son, Kent LeRoy Johnson and his wife, Jan of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Connie Junck of Kingsley and Marilyn Steffe and her husband, Les of Athens, Ga., and one brother, Vernon Johnson and his wife, Wanda of Waldron, Ark.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law; LeRoy Junck and Junior Lemke.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be at Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Friday), with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rohde ~ Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.
