SIOUX CITY -- Martha M. "Marty" Weibel, 91, of Sioux City, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.

The former Martha M. Jander was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Remsen, the daughter of Fred and Mayme (Shea) Jander. As a young child, Martha moved with her parents to Merrill, where she attended elementary school. Later the family moved to Sioux City. She completed 8th grade at St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1933.

On Feb. 14, 1939, she married Louis A. "Tony" Weibel in Sioux City. Following their marriage, Martha was employed in the credit department of the T.S. Martin Department Store for many years. Mr. Weibel died Feb. 14, 1999, in Sioux City.

Martha was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include one brother, Clarence Jander of Pasa Robles, Calif., a brother-in-law and his wife, Jerome A. and Gladys Weibel of Worthington, Minn.; 12 nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tony.

Funeral servicers will be at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the Holy Spirit Chapel.

The Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel of Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
