Airport runway repairs to be done

Friday, September 9, 2005

Le Mars City Council this week adopted plans, specifications, form of contract and cost estimate for the 2005 Le Mars Municipal Airport Runway 18/36 - Crack Sealing and Patching. Action was taken following a public hearing.

McClure Engineering has prepared final plans. Bid letting will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 with council award on Sept. 20. Construction is to begin about Oct. 15 and be complete about Nov. 4.

Project will be funded through Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) entitlement funds (95 percent) with five percent local TIF funding. Total cost estimate for the project is $61,000 with about $3,050 of that to come from local TIF funding.

Entitlement funds will be available for city use when the city's airport plan is formally approved by the FAA. Those plans were submitted by the city to the FAA in January 2005.
