Robert W. Plendl, 76, of rural Hinton, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Robert W. Plendl was born May 16, 1929, at James, the son of Leo J. and Maude (Yount) Plendl. He attended country school and graduated from Hinton High School in 1946. He later received his bachelor of arts degree from Morningside College in 1949.
On Feb. 21, 1951, he married Bethyl Calderwood at St. Michael Church in Sioux City. They made their home on a farm east of HInton.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Robert served on the board of directors of Farmers Mutual Insurance Association of Moville since 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Bethyl; five children, Dwight, Keith and Scott, all of rural Hinton, Bruce and his wife, Bobette of Everett, Wash., and June and her husband, Wade Hamil, of rural Merrill; and four grandchildren Craig Plendl, and Allen, Katelyn and Amanda Hamil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Neptune. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
