David and Ruth Simmons of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Steve and Marie Hurt of Le Mars, announce the engagement of their children, Amelia Simmons and Bradley Hurt.

An Oct. 15, 2005, wedding is being planned at First Congregational Church of Evanston, Ill. The reception will immediately follow at the Church House.

Amelia is a musician with a bachelor of music from Kansas State University and a masters of music from Florida State University, both in vocal performance. She is the program specialist for the education department at the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Bradley is also a musician with a bachelor of music education from the University of Northern Iowa. He is employed with Music and Arts Center in Itasca, Ill., as a band instrument technician. He also is a member of the Chicago Brass Band and Quintet.
