Public hearings set for three city projects

Three public hearings will be held for city projects on Sept. 6.

Le Mars City Council set 12 p.m. Sept. 6 for a public hearing on plans and cost estimate for 2005 SW Sanitary Sewer Extension Project.

McClure Engineering has prepared preliminary plans to extend sanitary sewer gravity main along Highway 75 to the new First National Bank location then across the Highway through a number of areas. The work will eliminate two existing sewer lift stations and relieve over-capacity of an existing 10-inch main on Industrial Road.

Bid letting will be at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 16 with award by council on Sept. 20. Construction will begin about Oct. 1 and be complete by about Nov. 15.

The council also set 12 p.m. Sept. 6 for a public hearing on the plans and cost estimate for work on a roof at the new Le Mars Aquatic Center.

TSP, Inc., has prepared final plans and specifications for a new metal roof on the existing old Westmar gym building in anticipation of a later remodeling for an aquatic center. Project will be funded through Westmar TIF funds and a resolution of intent to bond has been approved. Cost estimate is $140,000.

Bid letting will be at 2 p.m. on Aug. 25 with construction beginning on or before Sept. 25 and completion no later than Nov. 22.

A third public hearing will be held at 12 p.m. Sept. 6 for plans and cost estimate on the 2005 Le Mars Municipal Airport runway 18/36 - crack sealing and patching.

McClure Engineering has prepared final plans. Bid letting will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 with council award on Sept. 20. Construction is to begin about Oct. 15 and be complete about Nov. 4.

Project will be funded through FAA entitlement funds (95 percent) with five percent local funds. Cost estimate for the project is $61,000.
