The Lady Bulldogs had two of their season-high seven stolen bases in the second inning Friday night in Le Mars as they scored all three of their runs in the frame and came away with a 3-0 Lakes Conference win over Hull Western Christian.

Dani Bock led off the inning with a single and pinch runner Meranda Fischer moved all the way around to third on a stolen base and a passed ball. Krista Nilles reached on a walk and stole second base, setting the stage for an RBI single by Kayla Clarey. Nilles came around to score on an RBI groundout by Alishia Conley and Caitlin Madden capped off the scoring with a single that scored Clarey.

The 3-0 cushion was more than enough for Le Mars pitcher Amanda Arens, who allowed just four hits and walked none while striking out six over seven shutout innings to earn the win.

"I thought she was really in control tonight," said coach Mark Vonnahme. "Only one runner got to third base. It was a good win to cap off a frustrating week. We lost a close game Monday, didn't get to play Tuesday and lost 1-0 at Spirit Lake Wednesday night, so it was a good win."

The Lady Bulldogs will take a 12-16 overall record and a 5-6 Lakes Conference mark into tonight's matchup with Storm Lake in Le Mars.

"The kids are playing real well right now," said Vonnahme. "We're improving and learning things every time out. We're looking forward to playing well the last two weeks of the regular season."
