Arvey E. Cook, 82, of Marcus, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Arvey was born Sept. 3, 1922, at Remsen, the daughter of Henry P. and Agnes (Niehus) Cook. She grew up in the Remsen area, moving to Marcus in 1948.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild.
Arvey was a gentle, kind and caring person who cared for her parents all of her life, and loved to entertain her many friends with coffee and rolls. She enjoyed making cream puffs for the family holidays.
Arvey is survived by two sisters, Nancy Pick and her husband, Cliff of Le Mars, and Velma Geister of Remsen; one brother, Roger Cook of Pierson, and a sister-in-law, Rita Cook of Granville, Iowa. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She had many special and caring friends in Marcus. The family extends a special thanks to Bob and Betty Seggerman, Joe and Gloria Dreckman and Hazel Rupp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clark Cook, sister, Mary Zoch, brother-in-law, Garland Geister and sister-in-law, Lona Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation begins after 2 p.m. Friday,with a rosary at 3 p.m., and a scripture service at 8 p.m. at the Earnest ~ Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus.
