The engagement and approaching marriage of Amy Ann Sponder and Adam Lee Schmidt of Le Mars is announced by their parents, Larry and Kathy Sponder of Le Mars and Russell and Donna Schmidt of rural Ireton.

The couple is planning a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The reception will be held at the Le Mars Convention Center, lower level, following the ceremony.

Amy is a 2000 graduate of Le Mars Community High School and a 2004 graduate of Worshman College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Ill. She is employed at Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes in Sioux City.

Adam is a 2000 graduate of Le Mars Community High School and a 2004 graduate of Iowa State University in Ames. He is employed at Agriliance in Le Mars.
